How turmeric is processed makes a big difference to its potency, flavour and health benefits. Here's our three-stage traditional method.
If you care about what goes into your food and onto your skin, turmeric is probably already on your radar. But how turmeric is processed makes a big difference to its potency, flavour and health benefits.
At Nature's Gold Farms, we follow Kerala's time-tested traditional methods — as close to nature as possible.
Our three-stage method
- Steam-processing the fresh turmeric rhizomes
- Sun-drying on clean mats or stone platforms
- Polishing without chemicals or synthetic agents
This clean, slow method preserves the best of Kerala-grown turmeric — its flavour, curcumin content and shelf life — while reducing environmental impact.
Why it matters
Retains medicinal value. Slow, low-heat steaming and gentle sun-drying help retain curcumin and the essential oils behind turmeric's anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits.
Better flavour and aroma. Steaming and sun-drying intensify turmeric's warm, earthy scent. Industrial processing often removes these natural oils.
Naturally preserved. Proper sun-drying reduces moisture to safe levels, protecting against spoilage without any added preservatives — keeping turmeric fresh for a year or more.
Eco-friendly. No chemical treatments, no industrial machinery. Every part of the turmeric, from peel to root, is either used or composted.
If you're looking for turmeric rooted in real farming practices and proven processing methods, every batch we make reflects the land it came from and the people who nurtured it.
